Alex Jones is allowed back on X by Elon Musk

A live chat with Musk and Jones about the ‘New World Order’, the “New State” and “New Crimes” in the Media and Social Media

Musk took the time to participate in a live interview with Alex Jones over the weekend, after he reinstated the X account of the radio host. During the course of Musk’s hour-and-a-half appearance on the call, Jones blamed his reputation as a fabulist on “the media and PR firms” and praised Musk for allowing him to return to X and tell his own story.

Jones generated controversy for spreading false, wild conspiracies, claiming that a “New World Order” was sacrificing children on a California compound; that the U.S. government had “weather weapons” that triggered catastrophes like major floods; and that FBI Director Robert Mueller was a demon.

Less than a month ago, Musk endorsed some of the white nationalist views promoted by Jones. His remarks led to yet another wave of advertisers departing X in response, which Musk blamed on the media ignoring his “clarifications” on his point of view.

The conversation included a number of confusing topics including the “deep state” and threats that participants perceived to be masculine.

During his appearance at the Dealbook Summit in New York, Musk made a couple of profanities at companies that pulled their ads from X.

Musk has reinstated several banned or suspended accounts since purchasing Twitter, including ones belonging to former president Donald Trump and social media personality Andrew Tate, who was indicted earlier this year on human trafficking and rape charges in Romania.

Later in the call, Musk and Jones were joined by an array of other speakers from the very-online circuit, including Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, conspiracy theorist and former Trump advisor Michael Flynn, US Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL), VC and podcast host Jason Calacanis, and influencer Andrew Tate, who earlier this year was charged with rape and human trafficking.

Getting to know Jones was an eye opener and Ramaswamy supported his return to X.

Jones tried to draw comparisons between himself and Musk as two men who, in his view, were both being unfairly targeted for their past remarks. “It’s just like they misrepresent what you say, take one little thing and twist it, then say you need to apologize for it and just keep hammering it and hammering it,” Jones said.

Musk has been courting far-right people to allow for free speech and open conversations. He has started endorsing and promoting some of their ideas. In November, he replied to a tweet endorsing the antisemitic “great replacement” conspiracy, calling it the “actual truth.”

Both Musk and Jones had heard enough when Calacanis asked them to explain their Sandy Hook comments once more. Jones wouldn’t discuss his remarks further, but said he was not going to live in Groundhog Day. Musk chimed in later, “It was answered … I think people will eventually get tired of you answering the question.”
