At least one demo of the new artificial intelligence that was launched byGOOGL was not real
Google has released its artificial intelligence (AI) tool Gemini Nano, which it claims to be one of the world’s “most capable” systems for text-to-speech. The tool is available in Pixel 8 Pro for WhatsApp replies. It is designed to work across text, images, audio, video, and code. The tool is also available only in English on Google Apps.
A giant experiment will try to find out if rockdust can absorb carbon emissions
US-based startup Lithos Carbon has received $57.1 million in funding from US-based Frontier Benefit Corporation, a benefit corporation backed by a group of companies looking to finance promising approaches to carbon dioxide removal. It charges $370 per tonne for carbon removal and a quarter of that will go towards field monitoring and modelling to verify that carbon is being sequestered away from the atmosphere.
The chaos is because of Israel’s map and messages for Gaza
Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said it hit 250 targets in Gaza in the past 24 hours and that ground troops “continue to locate and destroy weapons, underground shafts, explosive charges and other terrorist infrastructures”. Over 16,000 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of Israel-Hamas war on July 8, according to health officials in Gaza.
The new artificial intelligence model will be coming to the Pixel 8 Pro and eventually to the rest of the world
Google has released its latest large-scale generative AI model, Gemini, in Bard for Android and iOS. The latest version of Gemini is based on a natural language model, the first version of which was unveiled at Google I/O in June. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that next year, the most powerful model will be released, and it will do better than GPT-4.
There is self-assembly with atomic-scale confinement
Sub-Nanometre Dielectric bowtie cavities from single Silicon atoms can be fabricated using surface forces that act on objects more than 10 times the size of a single atom, a study has shown. The cavities can be fabricated by using controlled, nano and directional collapses, enabling miniatureaturised devices with a few- or even sub-metre dimensions.
The head of DeepMind says that it is a new breed of computer-generated objects
Demis Hassabis, Google’s VP of AI and Deep Learning, has said Google’s new AI system Gemini is “substantially” ahead on 30 out of 32 benchmarks compared to OpenAI’sGPT-4. “We’ve done a very thorough analysis of the systems side by side, and the benchmarking,” he further said. Hassabis said Gemini’s “basic models are text-in and text-out” but more powerful models like Gemini Ultra can work with images.
The Bard chatbot is getting a lot better thanks to Gemini
Google Bard’s VP of Engineering, Mike Hassabis, has said the company is working on a preview of its multi- task language model Gemini Ultra. It will be able to accept images and audio and video, Hassabis added. “We’ve done a very thorough analysis of the systems side by side, and the benchmarking. The more they know, the better,” he further said.
The Pixel 8 Pro, and eventually the Android OS, will have the best artificial intelligence model on the planet
Google AI Researcher Hassabis, while talking about Google’s ‘Gemini’ artificial intelligence system, said, “There’s still things like action, and touch, more like robotics-type things.” Hassabis added, “Over time, ‘Gemini’ will get more senses, become more aware, and become more accurate and grounded in the process.” “Benchmarks are just benchmarks, though,” he further said.
As deaths and injuries increase, new calls for technology to reduce speeding
US’ New York City is testing a smart speed assistance and a technology to reduce speeding. “We felt it was time to be more aggressive with what we thought needs to be done, which is adoption of…technology in vehicles to prevent speeds,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said. New York City is testing a technology that caps the speed of vehicles on a limited basis.
People who have suffered a severe head injury can benefit from brain implants
A study by Cornell University has showed that a brain implant with deep brain stimulation (DBS) improves processing speed after three months. A total of five participants, all of whom’d experienced brain injury for at least two years, had their brains wired in order to stop the effects of the disease. DBS stimulates part of the brain’s thalamus.
