The new devices are 58% faster with 20% longer battery life than the most advanced MacBook Air with M3.

Asus has announced the new Vivobook S 15 laptop with a 12-core Snapdragon X Elite processor or 10-core Snapdragon X Plus processor, which will be configurable with either a faster integrated GPU or no dual-core boost. The laptop has a 15.6-inch OLED display and features a 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak HDR brightness. It’ll be available from select retailers by June 18.

Google has said the Home APIs could be used to connect smart home devices to fitness or delivery apps. Google said Android users would be able to control smart home products natively, including smart plugs, smart lights, and smart shades. “You can build a complex app to manage any aspect of a smart home…like turning on the lights automatically before the delivery driver arrives,” it added.
The US is going to increase tariffs on things that come from China
The White House said China’s unfair trade practices didn’t meet US President Joe Biden’s goals for increasing exports or stopping theft of intellectual property. “The tariffs…weren’t increased,” a White House official said, adding the administration has downplayed the risk of retaliatory tariffs from China. Biden had increased tariffs on certain technologies including batteries and semiconductors in a move to reduce COVID-19 emissions.

TikTok has filed a lawsuit against the US, alleging that the country doesn’t have the right data security standards under the forced divestment law. TikTok added that its proposal included giving the US a “shut-down option” it could use if TikTok didn’t meet its data security standards. It further claimed that it never received any requests from China for Americans’ data.

OpenAI has a model that gives a flirtatious upgrade
American artificial intelligence (AI) startup Openai’s chat platform ChatGPT, powered by a new AI model called GPT-4o, will now be able to simulate emotions like surprise and even flirtatiousness. Users will be allowed to converse with the chatbot via voice, and also talk about what they see through a phone or computer screen. GPT-4o is currently only available on ChatGPT.

Google has also made a customized version of its Gemini AI model for these new Search features, though it refused to share information about the size of this model, its speeds, or the guardrails it has put in place around the technology.
A bridge in Baltimore collapses with a boom
The largest portion of the bridge that collapsed in US’ Baltimore has been imploded to free the container ship Dali, which is resting on it. Authorities said no injuries or issues were reported during the detonation, and no injuries or problems were reported on board the ship during the explosion. The Dali was carrying about 2,00,000 containers when it hit the bridge.
