The Razr phones are going to make a big splash

What Have We Learned About the Motorola Flip Phones and Other Electronics? A Review of What’s Next for the Flip Devices (and Their AI Tools)

Motorola is on a hot streak—the company says it’s number one in the folding flip phone category in the US, which grew by three times in the past year, and Motorola is claiming 75 percent of this market share (bad news for Samsung, which is expected to launch new folding phones in July).

Prepayment for the phones will be available on July 10, and they will be on sale in July with prices starting at $1,000. Here’s what’s new.

The new hinges for both models claim to offer better dust resistance. The cover screen software has been made more updated by the company. The new panel seems like a useful addition and now you can see all of your panels at the same time. A new desk display mode will allow you to use your phone in flex mode and play a photo slideshow on the cover screen, which sounds like Standby-ish.

There’s now support for an always-on display, which rules. If you want to turn the Razr into a Humane-style artificial intelligence watch, you can now run the Gemini Assistant on the cover screen, which will come in handy if you want to do this. It is possible to make this foldable into a Wearable if you do so with hot pink and spring green color options.

A suite of new AI tools that sound helpful but aren’t shipping yet, is also being announced by Motorola. It is a thing. You’ll be able to say “Catch me up” to get an AI-generated summary of high-priority notifications — sounds familiar. It would be good to say “Remember this” if the phone could take a picture on the screen that you would like to reference later.

It has a command to pay attention to have it record a conversation and then give a summary. The company is also trying to make this. all context-aware, so it will tailor responses based on where you are and what you’re doing. Sounds nice, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Twenty Years of RAZR: My Grandparent and Grandparent Revisited (with an Empty Mummy & a Dilaton)

I hope you’re relaxing. It has been 20 years since the launch of the original R AZR V3 and I have some shocking news for you. Twenty years! Where has all the time gone?

The pink Razr was a popular phone in the early 2000s and will be played by Paris Hilton at a DJ event later today. My mom had one too.
