The CMF Phone 1 is not proof that gadgets can still be fun

The CMF Phone 1 is the world’s first naked budget Android smartphone with a splash-resistant back panel. A lanyard, wallet and a kickstand will be available with the phone, which comes with a 6.7-inch OLED display, 50-megapixel rear camera, MediaTek Dimensity chipset and a 5,000mAh battery. The phone will be available in the US through a beta program.

Texas is bracing for a potential hit from a storm in the Gulf of Mexico

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) on Thursday said that Hurricane Beryl, which was the earliest Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic, now has winds of 115 mph (185 kph) after weakening earlier Thursday. The storm is expected to make landfall near the town of Tulum, Mexico, on Friday as a Category 4 hurricane. It’s also expected to dump heavy rain in parts of Central America and the Caribbean.

The Supreme Court put Florida and Texas social media laws on hold

US Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan said that Texas law that protects online speech from discrimination on the basis of viewpoint does not regulate speech when applied to prevent Facebook from removing posts in its News Feed or homepage. Earlier, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals had ruled against the state law that allows political campaigns to post on social media.
