Everything was announced during Apple’s Mac week

The Apple Mac Pro: An Updated Look at an Apple Product Launch Earlier in the New Millenium (Sept. 10) Season

Apple appears to have wrapped up its week of Mac announcements — and it had a lot to share. Along with updating several devices across its Mac lineup, Apple showed off some updated accessories.

Three new options for Apple’s MacBook Pro include a standard chip, an M4 Pro, and the highest-performing M4 Max processor. The MacBook Pro comes in both 14- and 16-inch models with the same nano-texture display option as the iMac. The entry-level model has 16 gigahertz of RAM.

OK, remember when Apple said the Apple Watch Series 10 had an all-new design and it still looked pretty identical to every other Apple Watch? The Series 10 is a bit more comfortable now that the small changes have been made. That’s kind of like the Mac Mini. It hasn’t received a major redesign since 2010, but things are changing now.

The Smallest Desktop Computer Ever: Upgraded Penta-Like MacBooks and MacBook Pros with an Upgraded M4 Processor

The already small desktop computer is now even smaller—coming in at 5 x 5 inches. It’s a little taller despite the smaller footprint and the base has some vents for air flow. It’s still, for all intents and purposes, a metallic cube.

Apple added ports to the front, making it easier to access. Two USB-C ports support the USB 3.0, and there’s a 3.5-mm headphone jack. There are three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the back of the Mac Mini and M4 Pro version that support up to 80 Gbps data transfer speeds, it’s only available in a very limited number. Both models have an option of connecting to a power cable, as well as being able to have an up to 10 inch display and an optional cable for an external display. Apple has completely nixed the USB-A ports in this model.

The new iMac comes with an upgraded M4 chip, offering up to a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. It comes with a 24-inch display with an optional “nano-texture glass” to help reduce glare, along with a base 16GB of RAM.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro is $2,099, while the 16-inch version is $2,499. Space black and silver finishes are available for the laptops.

Before the change it cost $200 more to upgrade the MacBook Air to 16GB of RAM. But now, both devices will still ship with the extra memory, without a bump in their starting prices.

The Mac Pro Video: How John Ternus opened a Powerful, Fast, High-performance, and Low-Power, USB-C Notebook

Apple has finally brought USB-C to all of its Mac accessories, including the Magic Keyboard, the Magic Trackpad, and the Magic Mouse. Apple has left the Magic Mouse’s charging port on the underside, even though this is great and all.

Apple highlighted the rollout of Apple Intelligence during each of its announcements. Apple plans to add more features, like an integration with the chat service in December, despite the fact that the launch introduces writing tools and has a redesign of the Siri voice assistant. You can sign up once your device is updated, but there’s still a waitlist to access the features.

Like the iMac and Mac Mini videos, the new MacBook Pro video is available to watch on Apple’s website by clicking the “watch the announcement” link on the product page or over on the company’s YouTube channel. This video yet again starts with Apple’s SVP of engineering, John Ternus, doing the hardware reveal honors. He says it’s “packed with pro features, Apple Intelligence, and Apple silicon that’s more powerful than ever before.” A gust of wind blew his hair back as he opened the new notebook.
