Some Amazon workers plan to go on strike Thursday

Why the Teamsters are Slavery? Is Amazon Displeased with the Unions, Their Promise to Protect Their Employees and Their Families

“We haven’t seen any impact on our operations” from the strikes, says Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel. “We appreciate all our team’s great work to serve their customers and communities, and are continuing to focus on getting customers their holiday orders.” The accusation was made that the Teamsters were harassing and intimidating Amazon employees.

Amazon workers in Staten Island, New York, became the first to unionize in 2022. The National Labor Relations Board dismissed Amazon’s argument that union leaders influenced workers’ vote, nearly two years after the decision was made.

Gabriel Irizarry is a driver in Skokie, Illinois and said “Amazon is one of the biggest, richest corporations in the world.” They talk a big game about taking care of their workers, but when it comes down to it, Amazon does not respect us and our right to negotiate for better working conditions and wages. We can’t even afford to pay our bills.”

Pensler said, “What we’re doing is historic.” We are going to win against the union-busting campaign.

Workers in New York City, Atlanta, California, and Illinois are on a picket line. Warehouse workers and drivers at other facilities are prepared to strike, as well.

“These greedy executives had every chance to show decency and respect for the people who make their obscene profits possible,” Teamsters general president Sean M. O’Brien said in a public statement. They pushed workers to the limit, and now they have to pay the price. This strike is on them.”

Amazon’s First Year Earnings Report: An Extraordinary Year for the Consumer Goods and the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA)

The year has been an exceptional one for Amazon. According to the company’s Q3 earnings report, the profit from July through September rose 55 percent in 2024 compared to the same period last year. In a press release published with the earnings report, Amazon president and CEO Andy Jassy said the company was “excited about what we have in store for customers” for the holiday season. The report anticipated net sales to be between $181.5 billion and $188.5 billion in Q4.

At DBK4, located in Queens, New York, hundreds of Amazon workers marched on the sidewalk in front of the exit to a parking garage, at times verbally confronting exiting delivery drivers who were crossing the picket line. Many delivery vans blared their horns in unison as they waited in line to get out of the parking garage. The protesters held signs that said, “Amazon obey the law.” The marchers include people who came out in solidarity with CUNY students and the New York State Nurses Association.
