What Happened to Nintendo after the Spectacular Switch 2? What Happens When the Switch Gets Older and the Game Hasn’t

Nintendo did not mention how powerful the new console is when it was revealed. We can see that the console is larger, but what is the screen size? Is it OLED or LCD? Is it still 480p on the screen? Is there a supported resolution for 4K?

The Switch 2 also features a second USB-C port at the top. It is likely there will be a way to connect the headphones without sacrificing the charging port. But perhaps it might have some other mysterious function. Has native support been improved? It’d be nice to connect more than two wireless controllers if a Bluetooth headset is being used. What about the UI? Can we expect to see a homescreen similar to the original Switch? What about the UI for the eShop? Can you still post screenshots and clips directly to Facebook? Will Nintendo add a way to post to other social media platforms?

There were rumors before the reveal that the Joy-Con would have magnetic Hall effect joysticks to combat Joy-Con drift. What changes has Nintendo made to protect against drift? Will Nintendo still give repairs for the new Joy-Cons if they drift? Will the new Joy-Cons come in any new colors at launch, or will they be sold separately?

The home button on the Joy-Con has a new button below it. Rumors suggest a new chat feature might have something to do with it.

Speaking of Mario Kart, the short glimpse we saw of it in the trailer featured what looked to be 15 simultaneous racers with 24 spots behind the starting line. Does this mean the Switch 2 will feature enhanced multiplayer capabilities like larger player lobbies, and will the console natively support communication with them? What of Amiibos? Will the Switch 2 still support those, or are there plans to make more?

The Wii U failed to find an audience and the NintendoSwitch soared where the Wii U did not. It is still the third best-selling console of all time, behind Nintendo’s DS and the PlayStation 2.

Oh, wait, there is one more burning question… what flavors can we expect for the Switch 2 cartridges? I’m hoping for something better than “insecticide.”

Nintendo Direct and the Next-Generation WiiU Consoles: Where’s the fun? Where are we going? Where will we go?

On April 2, Nintendo will host a Direct presentation in order to give more details on the Switch. Nintendo introduced a bigger screen with a pair of black and pink and blue Joy-Cons. The video shows footage for a new game called Mario Kart with just a few seconds.

The next-generation Switch will be released into a much different console ecosystem than its predecessor. In 2022, Steam released its handheld Steam Deck, which allows players to take more PC games on the go. This year there will be Windows gaming updates according to Microsoft’s “Next Generation” VP, Jason Ronald. Phil Spencer has said that a handheld device could be an option.
