Openai has a $1B funding commitment to Deeply Nested Artificial Intelligence: a long-term investigation of the OpenAI board dissolution

During a period of heady Artificial Intelligence hype centered aroundgoogle, Musk co founded Openai with other people. A month before the nonprofit was incorporated, Google’s AI program AlphaGo had learned to play the devilishly tricky board game Go well enough to defeat a champion human player for the first time. The feat shocked many AI experts who had thought Go too subtle for computers to master anytime soon. It also showed the potential for AI to master many seemingly impossible tasks.

We should state that we have a $1B funding commitment. This is true. I will cover whatever anyone else doesn’t provide,” Musk wrote in a missive discussing how to introduce OpenAI to the world. He thought it wouldn’t work to announce $100 million in funding because of the resources of both Facebook and Google.

The software thinks Musk forwarded arguments regarding the superiority of Hassabis to a group of people who were in the email change.

During the call, he seemed cheerful while sitting next to Taylor. The employment status of the co-founder and chief scientist of Openai, who played an important role in the failed coup, was one of the topics that he was asked about.

Openai on Friday said that it would strengthen its conflict of interest policy for its employees and also create a hotline for employees and contractors.

On a short video call with reporters Friday, Altman apologized for believing that “a former OpenAI board member was harming OpenAI through their actions” but declined to go into more detail. There were reports that he had a conflict of interests that caused others to raise concerns about OpenAI, and that he tussled with an ex-board member in regards to the Academic paper she co-authored.

OpenAI has been looking to expand the board for months after announcing an interim board following the November chaos. It was formed after board members of the company disagreed with one another and pushed Altman out, accusing him of endangering the project for the benefit of all. Three directors agreed to step down after more than 95 percent of their employees told them they would quit if he was not brought back.

The company’s governance has drawn public scrutiny because of its development of ChatGPT, Dall-E, and other services that have kicked off a boom in generative AI technologies over the past couple of years.

While the investigation cleared Altman to reclaim his board seat, he said he “did learn a lot from this experience,” expressing remorse for one incident in particular involving a board member he did not name.
