The scubille Xbox: A new design for the Xbox Hardware Design Lab (formerly Xbox Classic) and a roadmap for Microsoft in 2030

Console customization via Microsoft’s Xbox Design Lab program was also mentioned under a list of goals that the company wants to achieve by 2030, though we should note that according to the leaked documents, this isn’t yet fully funded. The main controller refresh will probably include the same updates for a new Elite controller.

In the new Series X design, Microsoft is adding a variety of features, including a radio and wi-fi, for improved efficiency. Microsoft said that the PSU power will be reduced. Microsoft is targeting the same $499 launch price of the Xbox Series X.

The new controller, named scubille, will support gyro support and be announced later this year. It has a two-tone color scheme and will support a direct connection to cloud, Bluetooth 5.2, and a presumably updated “Xbox Wireless 2” connection. The controller specifications listed by Microsoft are called “precision haptic feedback” and ” VCA haptics double as speakers”. It will also have quieter buttons and thumbsticks, a rechargeable and swappable battery, modular thumbsticks, and you’ll be able to lift it up to wake it.

Sony’s Speed Advantage Versus Microsoft’s: Three Years After Sony Open the Xbox Series X & S, and Xbox XBox X

Sony’s speed advantage and Microsoft’s have never played out in the real world. At launch, the PS5 turned out not to need a particularly speedy SSD and yet outperformed the Xbox Series X. John Linneman stated in June that out of a number of games, the PS5 had pulled ahead twice.

That certainly feels true three years later, as SSD prices have fallen off a cliff, and excellent PS5-ready drives have become exceptionally easy to find.

Phil Spencer said he was proud of his team for almost 12 hours of soaking in the reveal, taking apart the specifications and reading the community responses.

Microsoft said it planned to subsidize theXbox Series X and S to the tune of 1.5 billion dollars in order to hit its price targets of $499 and $299. “That’s our largest hardware subsidy ever in the Gaming P&L,” the document reads.
