Russian shelling in Kiev and explosions in the Industrialnyi district of the city of Povkrosk in the eastern part of the country
One person was killed and four were wounded by shelling in the Sumy region, while five people were wounded in the Kharkiv region. On Sunday, 28 more were wounded when Russia shelled the regional capital, also called Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
35 missiles of different types and 26 Shahed drones were fired by Russia at Ukraine on the night of Sunday to Monday. Nineteen missiles, including 13 cruise missiles, were downed.
Drones were shot down in Russia, one each in the Tver region, northwest of Moscow, and the Ivanovo region, northeast of the Russian capital. The Defense Ministry said drones were shot down over 15 regions, while one other governor said a drone was shot down over his region.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said Sunday that it had taken control of two towns in the eastern part of the country. The Associated Press could not independently verify the claim.
The U.k. Defense Ministry said Russian forces have accelerated their advance on the city of Povkrosk, and are 10 kilometers from the city.
An explosion also rang out in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, according to Ukrainian media. The head of the Kharkiv region confirmed that there was an early morning strike on the Industrialnyi district that caused a building and several others to catch fire.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said emergency services were called to the Holosiivskyi and Solomianskyi districts. One person was reportedly injured by falling debris in the Shevchenkivskyi district, Klitschko said.
Both sides are battering each other with regular long-range drone and missile strikes, sometimes launching more than 100 weapons in aerial attacks that suggest they are still pouring resources into weapon production.
