The M4 Pro, the latest Thunderbolt 5 throughput chip in the Macbook Pro range – What is it like to upgrade a M4?
It is thought that the M4 Pro chip will come to the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, along with an even more capable M4 Max chip that is not available in the Mini. The Pro should be plenty for prosumers and creatives.
There are a number of I/O on the back of this thing, including a 3.5mm audio jack. Around back, you’ll find threeUSB-C/Tungsten ports. The base M2 Mini only had twoUSB-A ports and twoTHb4 ports, so it’s worth remembering that theUSB-A ports are history. The M4 has five ports in it. You are adding an extra port but giving up a native one.
The speed of those ports will be determined by the processor you choose. The M4 chip is regular, but the M4 Pro is the latest Thunderbolt 5 throughput chip.
What’s new with the Apple Mac? How the Series 10 and MacBook Pros have changed since 2010, and how the desktop computer has grown larger over the past few years
There is a lot happening for Apple this week. The M4 iMac made its debut on Monday, and the company also rolled out its first Apple Intelligence software capabilities across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. There will be more artificial intelligence features in December. Tomorrow could see the debut of the new MacBook Pros. The company is set to report quarterly earnings on Thursday, during which it will no doubt trumpet its latest fleet of Macs.
Remember when Apple said the Apple Watch Series 10 had an all-new design and it still looked like every other Apple Watch? The small changes made the Series 10 more comfortable and nice to wear, but the new design is a bit stretch. That’s like the Mac Mini. It has not received a major redesign since 2010, but things are changing now.
The desktop computer is even smaller now at 5 x 5 inches. It’s a little taller and has more ventis for better air flow. It is still a metallic cube.
