The Las Vegas Fire Department Observes Multiple Explosions and a Fireball: Tesla’s Senior Security Team Is Investigating
It’s still not clear what caused the fire, or if there were any injuries. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said there was a fire and that it had been put out. Local news station KSNV News 3 Las Vegas said a vehicle fire was first reported at 8:41AM local time and that police and firefighters were responding.

Several people on X say they witnessed an explosion and captured videos of the smoke rising. Stephen Felando claimed the windows shook violently on the 53rd floor of the building; Max Radford claimed there were multiple explosions.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and Clark County Fire Department were at the news conference trying to get the body out of a pickup truck that someone died in. Several people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
A truck rented via the Turo app appears to have fireworks in it, according to a law enforcement official. The official spoke on the condition that they were not authorized to speak publicly.
On X, Musk said that a bomb was carried into the bed of the Cybertruck, but that it was not related to the vehicle itself. All vehicle information was positive at the time of the explosion.
“The whole Tesla senior team is investigating this matter right now,” Musk said in an earlier post on the platform after attending a New Year’s Eve party at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. We’ve never seen anything like this before.
A person familiar with the matter said that law enforcement officials had not ruled out terrorism as a possible reason. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss details of the investigation.
“I know you have a lot of questions,” Jeremy Schwartz, acting special agent in charge for the FBI’s Las Vegas office, told reporters. “We don’t have a lot of answers.”
