When was the last time someone took the dog out for a walk? Asking Alexa Plus to show you what you can about Siri and Google Assistant
The general idea is that you should be able to ask a questions in a way that is natural and that it should be possible to help in some way. Where before you may have asked Alexa to “show me my doorbell feed,” now you can ask Alexa+, “When was the last time someone took the dog out for a walk?” You’ll need a ring subscription to have an understanding of what you see through your cameras. These features match many of the capabilities Google has been promising as it injects its Gemini large language models into Google Assistant.
During a live demo, a man with the Devices and Services department at Amazon used his phone to snap a picture of the audience and ask if they looked energetic. The crowd applauded at the start of the interaction, and the crowd looked pretty excited, pointing out details like how the laptops were open, and that all eyes were on Panay.
The United States will have free early access to the voice assistant, later in March of 2025. They will be notified through emails and devices once they have access to Alexa Plus, but they will have to decide if they use it.
