TikTok has announced it’ll label videos that contain AI-generated content, including deepfakes, depicting “realistic” scenes and prohibiting them in certain situations. Videos that contain deepfakes will also not be allowed to be used in public or commercial endorsements on the short-form video app. TikTok added that AI labels will be more prominent on some videos dealing with “sensitive topics”.

US’ Defence Intelligence Service CISA has said that it is “focussed on security over speed” in the development of AI-powered defence capabilities. It added that attackers will be using these tools and some already are, so it’s necessary and urgent for the US government to utilise them as well. CISA is part of the US State Department’s National Security Council.

British drugmaker Verve has claimed it’s made the world’s first gene-editing drug which could lower cholesterol. The drug alters adenine bases in the body and another that recognises PCSK9. It swaps a base with a guanine base to turn off PCSK9, preventing liver cells from producing PCSK9 proteins. Verve aims to select the best therapeutic dose from the trial next year.

US-based startup Humane has launched its AI-powered device ‘Ai Pin’ that can replicate core functions of a phone, such as answering calls, sending messages and translation. The device has a pin which blinks when it’s activated, so you have to manually turn it on. Humane hopes that the device will allow them to free its customers from carrying their phones everywhere.
Video chat site Omegle is shutting down after 14 years
A US court has forced video chat platform omegle to close after a 14-year-old victim filed a lawsuit claiming she was sexually abused by a 20-year-old man. In 2014, omegle matched her with Ryan Fordyce, who was then in his mid-thirties. In his farewell note, KBrooks, the man who founded omegle, said people working as moderators monitored the site and moderated it.

American startup Humane has unveiled its AI-powered Pin device that can diagnose E-Microscopic Appearance. It’s a square device and battery pack that magnetically attaches to your clothes or other surfaces. It also gets you a phone number and data coverage through T-Mobile. The device is priced at $699 and it will be available for pre-ordering on November 16.
