The DOJ had internal emails that helped build its case
More than a dozen state attorneys general and the US Department of Justice have sued Apple for allegedly using the App Store to block Android users from switching to iPhones. They also alleged that Apple used its devices to exert leverage on smartphone customers. They also claimed that Apple’s Vice President of Product Marketing for Apple Watch wrote, “Apple Watch may help prevent iPhone customers from switching.”
The Apple Watch users lost a popular health app because of a court ruling
The US Supreme Court has ruled that Apple can continue to sell the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 without its ability to measure blood oxygen levels. The watchmaker had decided to drop the health feature after losing a patent case brought by medical technology company Masimo. Earlier, Masimo had alleged that Apple infringed on its patent for a blood oxygen sensor.
Why did Masimo think it could take on Apple?
Apple said it is taking measures to return Apple Watches Series 9, Apple Watch U2 and Apple Watch Series 3 to customers in the US as ” soon as possible”. It added it disagreed with the US International Trade Commission’s ruling that found Apple Watches violated Masimo’s patented technology. Apple had stopped the stock of those products earlier this month.
Apple has stopped selling the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2
Apple has said it’ll “take all measures to return Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 to customers in the US as soon as possible”. This comes after the US International Trade Commission (ITC) barred imports of Apple’s watches over a patent dispute with Masimo. The ruling banned imports of the smartwatches over Masimo’s use of e- EKG feature for its blood pressure monitoring.
The Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 won’t be sold anymore

This comes after President Joe Biden ordered a 60-day delay in the import of Apple Watches until he reviews the US International Trade Commission’s (ITC) order banning Apple from selling its smartwatches in the US.
The double tap gesture points at a new way to use Wearables
Apple Watch’s double tap gesture could be useful for people with disabilities, however, it’s unlikely to work for everyone, a scientist has said. The scientist, who works for Assistive Touch, added that the gesture may not be applicable to everyone as some people aren’t strong enough to do two quick motions such as double tap and double clench.
