Telegram is in a state of disrepair in Europe
Telegram’s Founder Pavel Durov was arrested in France over alleged child pornography and drug trafficking. French President Emmanuel Macron said, “It’s up to the judiciary, in full independence, to enforce the law.” The European Commission said that the arrest was conducted under French criminal law and is not connected to new European regulation for tech platforms.
Durov was arrested in connection with a criminal investigation
Telegram Co-founder Pavel Durov has been detained in France in a probe related to child pornography and money laundering. Durov, who is in his early thirties, is accused of providing encryption tools to crimes, among others. Telegram said the investigation is “absurd” to hold Durov responsible for people who abuse the platform, noting that the app abides by all European Union laws.

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, who was arrested at Paris’ Le Bourget Airport on Saturday, has not yet been charged with any crime and is being held as part of an investigation against a person unnamed, French prosecutors said. Durov is being held in police custody until Wednesday. Durov was arrested over his alleged involvement in money laundering, drug trafficking and child pornography.
