OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT and a big part of Stargate, has announced it’s collaborating with US National Laboratories to supply the government with advanced models for things like cybersecurity, energy infrastructure and nuclear security. “The main point for us is that the US has to have the infrastructure to maintain its lead,” OpenAI’s Founder Sam Altman said.

Delta Airlines has sued Microsoft’s cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike over the software outage last month which led to thousands of flight cancellations. Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian said, “If you want priority access to the Delta, you need to fix the flaw in CrowdStrike’s deployment processes.” “You can’t come into a mission-critical 24/7 operation and tell us we have a bug,” he added.
Microsoft says the state-backed Russian hackers accessed senior Microsoft leaders’ emails
Microsoft has revealed that “state-backed Russian hackers” had infiltrated its corporate email system and accessed the accounts of members of the company’s leadership team, as well as those of its cybersecurity and legal teams. The hackers were able to expose some emails and attached documents with this access, Microsoft said. It added that it has fully remediated the breach.

More than 2,000 people, including a cybersecurity student from Dakota State University, participated in ‘Generative Red Team Challenge: Detecting Threats, Deceptions, Biases and Misinformation with Artificial Intelligence’ at the Defcon security conference. Participants were asked to expose harms, flaws and biases embedded within chatbots and text generation models from Google, Meta, OpenAI and AI startups including Anthropic and Cohere.
