The structure of the dystrophin glycoprotein complex

Scientists have created a single-particle cryo-EM reconstruction of the crystal structure of dystrophin and utrophin spectrin repeats. The model was tested in a mouse with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and found that it had a similar structure to dystrophin and utrophin. They found that it was more efficient to build a single-particle cryo-EM reconstruction of dystrophin and utrophin spectrin repeats than to build them on the other two proteins.
