The US would have a TikTok Ban
The US Supreme Court is set to hear TikTok’s appeal against the state of the Union law that would force the Chinese video-sharing app to shut down in the US. TikTok claims its data collection practices aren’t different from those of the leading US social media apps. However, the company says forcing it to stop working in the US represents an unprecedented government suppression of free speech.
Tech executives are released by Republicans
US Republicans, during a hearing on Wednesday, released thousands of emails and other non-public documents which they claim show that the White House “coerced” companies to suppress free speech. Democrats claimed that the Republicans were holding the hearing to “influence” the Supreme Court opinion in Murthy v. Murthy case, a case that’s still pending at the Supreme Court.
