Facebook-owned social media platform Meta has announced it will end its fact-checking program and cut down its rules barring hate speech in a move allegedly aimed at appeasing President-elect Donald Trump. It has also changed its community guidelines which allow users to make blatantly anti-gay, sexist and racist posts without consequences. Meta said it would be ending its third-party fact-checking program.
The EU is taking Musk to court over his blue checks and ads
The European Commission is looking into whether Elon Musk-led platform X has done enough to combat hate speech. The commission said that X’s ‘blue check’ system negatively affects users’ ability to make free decisions about authenticity of accounts and the content they interact with. It may face fines of up to 6% of its global revenue if it doesn’t address EU’s three grievances.

The US’ anti-Semitic incidents have increased by 400 percent since the Israel-Hamas war erupted, according to a report conducted by the Center for American Progress. Over the course of one week in October, anti-semitic hate speech and Holocaust-denying conspiracy theories on white nationalist Nick Fuentes’ channel have been used by Fuentes to spread anti-semitic hate speech.
