The Israeli military on Saturday said that it struck Hezbollah’s headquarters in Lebanon’s Beirut on Friday, killing the group’s chief Hassan Nasrallah. The Israeli military added that multiple buildings in the area were damaged. This comes after Israel carried out air strikes on two Hezbollah positions in Lebanon earlier this week, leading to a 34-day conflict between the two countries.

Hezbollah has claimed that its militants have handed out pagers to civilians in the latest wave of explosions that took place on Tuesday and Wednesday in Lebanon. The explosion victims included four health care workers, an 8-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy, Lebanon’s acting Health Minister said. They were among five people killed in the blasts.
More missile defense systems are being sent to the Middle East
The US is sending a drone battery and two additional battalions to the Middle East in response to the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas. The US has also said that it’s “redirected” the Eisenhower aircraft carrier to the Central Command’s area of responsibility, which encompasses much of the Middle East, including Israel and Lebanon.
