A bad law on the internet is being foisted on the UK

The UK government has dropped the so-called “spy clause” which required messaging platforms to scan messages for signs of child sexual abuse. The government said it won’t force technology on tech companies, but the controversial clauses are still in the legislation and are likely to pass into law. “It’s absolutely a victory,” Signal Foundation’s President Meredith Whittaker said.
