The streaming service has a complete one
Netflix has signed a 10-year streaming deal with WWE worth over $5 billion (35,800 crore). The deal will also include WWE’s live events and original programming. Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos said the deal is “one of the most valuable deals in TV history”. The agreement also includes rights to WWE’s intellectual property, including wrestler Brock Lesnar’s autobiography ‘The Undertaker’.
The Password-Sharing Crackdown is working for now
Netflix has added over 8.8 million new worldwide subscribers during July-September, more than tripling the number gained during the same time last year when Netflix was scrambling to recover from a downturn in customers during the first half of 2021. The increase left Netflix with nearly 243.8 million subscribers. Netflix’s shares have increased by about 30% so far this year.
There is a price hike for Netflix
Netflix has raised the prices of its basic and premium subscription plans in the UK and France. The Basic plan will cost 10.49 in the UK while the Premium plan will cost 199.99. In July, Netflix had stopped offering its $9.99 Basic ad-free plan to new and relapsed users, forcing them to pay more to avoid ads.
