The patient is using a brain implant to play chess

Noland Arbaugh, a 51-year-old paralysed man from the waist down, was able to play online chess and Civilization with Elon Musk’s Neuralink brain implant. Arbaugh, who received the implant last month, also said he had been able to play Civilization for eight hours straight. He added that he is in good health and expects to have the implant removed in the next few days.

We know a lot about Neuralink’s trial

Elon Musk’s electric carmaker Tesla has claimed that Neuralink is preparing to use its human-Improved Robot for Brain Computer Interfacing and Surgery in a first-of-its-kind clinical trial. Neuralink said it has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin the clinical trial of its brain implant in people with severe spinal cord injuries.

There is a lot of information about Neuralink’s brain implant trial

Neuralink has announced that it will conduct its first in-human clinical trial for a brain-computer interface for robotics and artificial intelligence. The implant will be placed into the brain of the robot to control movement intention. Once in place, the implant is designed to record and transmit brain signals wirelessly to an app that decodes movement intention.
