Nintendo boss on Switch 2 and tariffs: we are assessing what the impact may be
Nintendo has said that it will not start pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the US on April 9, 2025 in order to assess its potential impact on tariffs and evolving market conditions. “As we looked at the games that we had prepared and ready to launch with the hardware, we thought June was a very good timing,” it added.

Talking about the new Nintendo Switch 2 controller, Nintendo said it can be played with any of the existing Joy-Cons or with any of the games installed on the original console. It added it’s compatible with the gamepad of both the Nintendo Switch and the Wii U. The Switch 2 can also be played with the Wii U’s Joy-Cons.
There are unanswered questions about the Nintendo Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2, which was launched earlier this year, has a bigger screen with a pair of Black and Pink and Blue Joy-Cons. The console also features a second USB-C port at the top. Nintendo has also released a video showing a new game called Mario Kart which is being developed by Kyoto-based Kyoto Game Studios.
