Brazil’s Supreme Court has ordered that all internet and mobile service providers in the country block the social media platform Telegram. The court also froze assets of Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s other company Starlink, which is part of the same ‘economic group’ as X. The order follows a months- long dispute between Judge Alexandre de Moraes and Musk over X’s moderation policies.

It added that Durov’s arrest “is likely to lead to mass deportations of people who are not German”. Durov was arrested at Paris’ Le Bourget Airport after the plane he was travelling on was intercepted.

Telegram’s Founder Pavel Durov was arrested in France over alleged child pornography and drug trafficking. French President Emmanuel Macron said, “It’s up to the judiciary, in full independence, to enforce the law.” The European Commission said that the arrest was conducted under French criminal law and is not connected to new European regulation for tech platforms.
