To hit deep inside Russia, Ukraine has built its own drones
The US has said that it is “concerned” about the launch of long-range missiles by Russia into Ukrainian territory. “We support Ukraine’s sovereign right to defend itself against Russian actions, but we are concerned about the potential risk to US personnel and bases,” it added. Earlier this week, Ukraine fired a series of US-made longer-range missiles into Russia for the first time.
Russia fires missiles and Drones at Kyiv as children return to school
Russia on Monday launched a barrage of cruise and ballistic missiles at the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, the country’s air force said. It added that Russia fired 35 missiles of different types and 26 Shahed drones at Ukraine on the night of Sunday to Monday. Ukraine has accused Russia of firing more than 100 weapons in aerial attacks.
The air force commander was fired after a fatal F-16 crash
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired the commander of the country’s air force after an F-16 warplane that Ukraine received from its Western partners crashed during a Russian bombardment. The pilot was killed in the incident, the Ukrainian army said. The crash was the first reported loss of an F-16 in Ukraine, where the warplanes arrived at the end of last month.
The Ukrainian military says they sank a Russian landing ship
Ukraine’s Military Intelligence unit sank a Russian Navy ship in Black Sea using a Magura V5 sea drone, the country’s Defence Ministry said on Wednesday. This comes a week ahead of the second year of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Ukrainian attack on the Russian aircraft and ships in the Black Sea helped push Moscow’s naval forces back from the coast.
At least 6 people were killed by Russian missiles in Ukrainian cities
Russia has blamed Ukraine for downing a military plane that was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners to a prisoner exchange on Wednesday, claiming it was shot down by a “terrorist” missile. The plane was flying to the Belgorod airfield for an exchange of prisoners, Russia added. However, some Ukrainian authorities, including the country’s ombudsman for human rights, suggested the report was propaganda aimed at destabilizing Ukrainian society.
