Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering said at the briefings that intelligence needs to be centered on you if it’s to be useful. “That requires some really deep thoughts about privacy.”

“I think it solves a necessary, profound challenge,” Federighi said. “Cloud computing typically comes with some real compromises when it comes to privacy assurances. Even if a company makes some promise, ‘We’re not going to do anything with your data,’ you have no way to verify that.”
