The Apple Watch Series 10/Ultra 2 and Beyond: New Water-Related Features and Fitness Features for Seeking and Measuring Sleep Aggressivity
The new watch has been polished with Silicon nanoparticles, which make it reflective, and it’s available in a shiny jet black version. Among other rejiggerings to make it thinner, the speaker system has been redesigned so that you can play podcasts directly through the Apple Watch’s speakers. The charging coil can help the watch reach 80 percent battery life in 30 minutes. (No word on how much better the battery life is, if at all.)
Apple Intelligence is available on the Watch and it’s mostly due to the Health app that came with WatchOS 11. A whole new slew of water-related fitness features includes some new maritime watch faces for when you spontaneously decide to go sailing or kayaking.
The wearable comes with a few changes under the hood — most notably, a new S10 chip with a four-core neural engine. It also features new health and fitness features, including depth and temperature sensors as well as an accelerometer that detects breathing disturbances potentially related to sleep apnea. The Wearable sends a detailed report to the user after it’s detected. The feature hasn’t gotten FDA approval yet, but Apple thinks it will in the coming months. There are other fitness features included in the watchOS 11 support, like a Training load measurement and ability to pause your activity rings.
Preorders of the Series 10 are being taken today for $399 and will ship on September 20. Preordering the Watch Ultra 2 is available for $799 today, and you can get it on September 20.
A New Look at the Surface Surfaces of AirPods: The Case for a Lighter, Softer, Thinner, and Blacker
A new rounded corners make it look softer, along with a brand-new jet-black aluminum finish that has been polished with Silicon nanoparticles to make it reflective. (Don’t worry, it still comes in the popular rose gold and silver.) New hardware makes it thinner and lighter. A new metal backing and thin speakers can actually play music, while an antenna has been integrated into the housing.
Apple has added a few new options for its AirPods. For the first time, active noise canceling is available in regular AirPods, which is a more expensive version than the base model. There are new AirPods 4 that cost $129 without active noise canceling, and a version of AirPods 4 that cost $179 and do have active noise canceling.
The latest Apple device will be available in both titanium and aluminum finishes. Depending on which you choose, you have the option of the following colors: silver, rose gold, jet black, dark gray, and a “natural” light gray shade. You can currently preorder the GPS model from Apple in the 42mm size starting at $399 or the 46mm size starting at $429. If you want to add cellular connectivity, you can preorder the 42mm and 46mm models for $499 and $529, respectively.
