Is social media really bad for teens mental health?
A systematic review of 23 trials found that abstaining from social media improved measures of depression. It’s also unclear in some studies if social media causes depression, for instance, or whether young people who are depressed are more likely to spend time on social media. Jonathan Haidt thinks that the Anxious generation is a group of children and adolescents who are anxious because of the way they spend time on phones.
The opinion of foreign spies to the team
A former CIA officer said there’s “no doubt” what would have happened to an active-duty officer who participated in a chat session between senior US officials and a journalist on an open-source messaging app. The White House downplayed the incident, calling it a “spillage” by the military. “I’ve defended spillage cases where people were going to be put out of the military,” he added.
There is a small-molecule SARS-CoV-2 blocker on the market
The IC50 of CIM-834 was determined after incubation of 0.5 M of SARS-CoV-2 Mpro and CIM-834 at various concentrations from 0 to 500 M in reaction buffer at 37 C for 10 min. The A549ACE3+TMPRSS2 cells ( a human lung carcinoma Cell Line overexpressing human ACE2 and human TMPRSS2 receptors) were cultured in DMEM supplemented with 10% v/v heat-inactivated FBS, 300 g ml1 hygromycin, 0.5 g ml1 puromycin and 10 g ml1
A new antibiotic was found in the technician’s garden
Researchers in the US have developed a new antibiotic peptide that targets the ribosome of the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and has shown that it can cause resistance to the ribosome. Researchers said they found that the peptide binds to the nucleic acids of ribosome protein complexes. It also inhibits the enzyme that causes ribosomal assembly of ribosomal proteins.

Transient silencing of hypermutation preserves B cell affinity
Nodes with over 15 identical sequences are responsible for variable mutation rates in GC B cells induced by Modifiedase 2 activity. To determine whether variable mutation rates were mediated by altered AID expression in expanded nodes, we profiled its expression in NP-OVA and RBD-elicited GC B cells contributing to nodes of sizes 1, 2–15 or more than 15.
Bird brains help scientists find the hidden meaning of words
A study found the human speech sensorimotor cortex in the left and right side of the body, similar to a parrot vocal control network. The human forebrain vocal control pathways are located in the left side of the body along with the human speech sensorimotor cortex. The human forebrain motor networks are more flexible than those of a parrot.
