The proposed budget cuts are large

US President Donald Trump has proposed a $5-billion cut in funding to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) by 2022. Under his proposal, the number of people receiving support from the agency will reduce from 325,000 to about 91,000. The geosciences directorate will be affected the most, as it faces a 44.6% cut. The education directorate will be reduced by 75%.
